Prevention begins with understanding. Alongside mosquito net distribution, we prioritize the dissemination of clear, evidence-based educational materials that empower individuals to reduce their risk of infection. A central component of this effort is the distribution of Mosquito Borne Diseases in Sri Lanka: Prevention and Control by K. D. P. Jayatilaka. This comprehensive guide provides practical insights into disease transmission, mosquito breeding prevention, and community-level health strategies. By combining this resource with community engagement and awareness efforts, we aim to foster long-term behavioral change and strengthen public health knowledge at the grassroots level.
Insecticide-Treated Mosquito Net Distribution
Insecticide-treated mosquito nets are one of the most effective tools for preventing mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. Our organization works to procure and distribute long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) to communities in Sri Lanka that are at higher risk of exposure. By providing these nets directly to households, we help create a physical barrier against disease-carrying mosquitoes, particularly during nighttime when risk of transmission is highest. Our distribution efforts are designed to be accessible, targeted, and sustainable, ensuring that protective resources reach those who need them most.
Access to health information should never be limited by language. To expand the reach of mosquito-borne disease prevention education, our organization is working to develop a Tamil translation of Mosquito Borne Diseases in Sri Lanka: Prevention and Control by K. D. P. Jayatilaka. While the guide is currently available in Sinhala and English, this initiative seeks to ensure that Tamil-speaking communities also have equitable access to clear, evidence-based public health resources. By addressing language barriers in health education, we aim to make preventive knowledge more inclusive, accessible, and impactful across Sri Lanka.
